Roshd is the oldest film festival in Iran organized by the The Department of Education since 1964.
Roshd International Film Festival is centered around the films with educational and pedagogical themes and is staged every year by the Supplying Educational Media Center, a sub-branch of the Ministry of Education of the I.R.Iran. Roshd International Film Festival seeks the main objectives of identifying and selecting the best educational and pedagogical films in order to introduce them to the educational systems. Roshd supports all filmmakers specifically student filmmakers and teachers to present their works annually before diverse audiences including schools from around the country.
During 40 times of being staged, Roshd International Film Festival has been seeking the general themes of “Knowledge, Sciences and New Technology in the Educational Systems”, “Islamic Knowledge and Culture”, “Cultures of the Nations around the World”, “Education and Training”, “Exceptional Children”, “Physical Education”, and “Teaching Life Skills”. Every year, depending on the significant current national and international issues, some additional themes are added to the main subjects of the festival.
